Description: 

 

This 9,695 square foot state-of-the-art library facility has a traditional design and is located in Hazlehurst, Jeff Davis County, Georgia.  The new library was designed and constructed to meet current Georgia Library Services Standards of a minimum of .6 square feet per capita and provide adequate collection space for the recommended 2 books per capita based on a projected county population of 14,500. 

 

$2,226,000 estimated construction cost.  The library is a one story with a masonry exterior, metal Studs with Face Brick, Shingle roof, and have an exterior plaza with a fountain.  A community meting room complete with projection system and suspended screen will accommodate 185.  There is a paved Learning Trail around the exterior of the building with gathering / teaching areas.

 

The building was designed for maximum energy efficiency and meets or exceeds standards set forth by US Green Building Councils LEED green building certification program which encourages sustainable building and development practices.  Sustainable Design elements include pervious pavers to capture 90% water run off and daylight harvesting of LED lighting with dimmer capability according to ambient light.
